People

Dr. Robert W. Brodersen - Founder, Chairman
Dr. Brodersen recently retired as Professor Emeritus in EECS at the University of California at Berkeley. He joined the EECS faculty in 1976, teaching and researching in the area of Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits (VLSI) and Speech Processing. He has numerous awards from the IEEE and other organizations, including the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Award for "contributions to the design of integrated circuits for signal processing systems." He was also recognized as one of the top 10 contributors in the history of the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference.

Dr. Brodersen was a cofounder Atheros communications and SiBEAM.

Dr. Tim A. Williams - Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Williams began his professional career at Motorola, where he spent 14 years designing telecom, cellular, and networking integrated circuits and systems. Dr. Williams has founded and served as CTO or CEO of several startup companies over the past 18 years. Three of which were successfully sold or went public:

  • Wireless Access: This company created 2-way paging products. The company designed the over the air protocol, Integrated circuits and the subscriber devices for 2-way paging. The company was sold to Glenayre Electronics.
  • Picazo Communications: This company created software based PBXs. The company built TDM and VoIP based PBXs on Windows operating system computers. The company was sold to Intel.
  • Atheros Communications: This company developed standards and integrated circuits for high speed wireless LANs, ( IEEE 802.11a and g). The company went public in 2004.
  • SiBEAM: This company is a developer of high-speed (giga bps) wireless communication platforms. The company is the first to develop working 60 GHz chipsets in CMOS. The company is private.
  • DoceoTech: This company trains engineers, managers, marketers and sales people in wireless, telecom, and networking technologies. This company is private.
  • BitRail: Revolutionizing how networks are deployed and managed, BitRail provides routing services to power Next Generation Networks. This company is private.
Dr. Chen Chang - Founder, CTO
Dr. Chang is a leading expert in large scale VLSI design automation and computer architecture. Dr. Chang was the principal designer of the BEE, the BEE2 and the BEE3 systems. Dr. Chang holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
Dr. John Wawrzynek - Founder, Chief Scientist
Dr. Wawrzynek is a professor of EECS at the University of California at Berkeley. He is head of the Berkeley Reconfigurable Architectures, Software, and Systems (Brass) group, and was a principal contributor to the BEE and RAMP projects.
